The Master of Sports at East China University of Science and Technology is a first-level discipline professional degree programme, offering three research specialisations: Physical Education, Sports Training, and Sports Management. It confers the Master of Sports degree. The programme aims to cultivate high-level, application-oriented specialists equipped with a solid foundation in theoretical knowledge and broad expertise across physical education, sports training, and the sports industry. Graduates will possess strong practical problem-solving abilities, be capable of undertaking professional technical or managerial roles, and demonstrate excellent professional ethics. The programme currently has 18 academic supervisors, including 6 professors, with 17 holding doctoral degrees.
Primary research directions are as follows:
1. Physical Education: This specialisation focuses on cultivating highly skilled professionals capable of undertaking physical education instruction, extracurricular sports training, and sports competition management within schools. Graduates typically possess robust theoretical knowledge and practical competencies in physical education pedagogy, enabling them to excel as school physical education teachers. They are also equipped to engage in school sports research, thereby advancing physical education teaching methodologies.
2. Sports Training: This specialisation cultivates professionals for roles in sports training instruction and social fitness programmes within sports institutions, relevant departments, and amateur sports academies. Graduates primarily oversee athlete development, enhancing athletic skills and competitive performance to cultivate elite sporting talent for national and regional bodies.
3. Sports Management: This management track emphasises cultivating professionals for roles in sports services and administration within large enterprises, trade unions of public institutions, grassroots sports bureaus, or across the sports industry. Graduates typically possess extensive sports management knowledge and practical experience, enabling them to effectively organise and manage sporting activities while advancing the development of the sports industry.
