On 10th October, Dr M. Susan Guyer, dean of the School of Sport, Performance and Exercise Management at Springfield College, USA, accompanied by Professor Zhan LIU, tenured full professor and doctoral supervisor in the Department of Sport and Health Sciences, visited the School of Sports Science and Technology for discussions on collaborative partnership initiatives. The meeting was chaired by dean Xinming YE, with attendance by associate dean Mei DU, party committee member and director of the general office Li ZENG, alongside relevant departmental personnel.

Xinming YE extended a warm welcome to Dr M. Susan Guyer and her delegation, providing a comprehensive overview of the school's current development, including academic discipline construction, degree programmes, faculty resources, and research achievements. YE noted that since 2011, the school and the Springfield College have achieved fruitful outcomes in areas such as joint postgraduate training, faculty visits, research collaboration, and short-term student exchanges. Currently, based on both institutions' shared understanding and pursuit of cultivating international sports talent within the context of the ‘comprehensive health’ strategy, there exists extensive potential for cooperation and exchange opportunities between the two schools.
Dr M. Susan Guyer expressed her sincere gratitude for the warm reception extended by the School of Sports Science and Engineering. She provided a detailed account of Springfield College's distinctive features and achievements in talent cultivation and research directions, emphasising the institution's professional standing and unique strengths within the field of physical education. Dr Guyer noted that both institutions possess significant potential for collaboration in areas such as faculty exchanges, joint student training programmes, and project partnerships within the domains of athletic training, health management, and sport science.
This symposium has not only laid a solid foundation for the school to deepen international exchanges and cooperation, but also provided crucial support and opportunities for the school to further stimulate disciplinary innovation, enhance the quality of sports talent education, expand international collaborative research platforms, and e the effective transformation of teaching and research achievements.
