On 20th March, a delegation of four from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) visited the School of Sports Science and Engineering. The delegation comprised Amy CHEN and Grant Brewer, associate director of the office of global education and training; Wendy Spencer, programme coordinator; and Joanna HU, senior programme representative at the Shanghai Office. The visit focused on discussions regarding the International Graduate Mentoring Programme (IGMP) and collaborative arrangements for sports talent development and exchange between the two institutions. Dean Xinming YE of the School of Sports Science and Engineering received the delegation. Present at the meeting were Aiai FENG, director of the cooperative education office at the International Cooperation and Exchange of ECUST; Mei DU, foreign affairs secretary of the school; and Jing WANG, director of the experimental teaching centre.

During the talks, both parties presented their respective strengths and distinctive features in cultivating talent within the field of physical education. The UIUC delegation provided a detailed account of the international postgraduate research mentorship programme offered by its Department of Kinesiology and Community Health. Xinming YE outlined the progress achieved in research collaboration and faculty exchanges between our institute and UIUC. Discussions centred on exploring broader and deeper cooperation in the joint cultivation of sports professionals in the future.
