Recently, the 12th Shanghai Student Dragon Culture All-Around Competition, jointly organised by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Shanghai Administration of Sports, and Communist Youth League Municipal Committee, commenced at Oriental Land. Over 3,000 participants from 111 schools across 16 districts gathered to compete across four categories: primary school, junior secondary school, senior secondary school, and higher education institutions. Following an exhilarating contest, the East China University of Science and Technology dragon boat team secured first place in the 22-person 200-metre straight-course sprint event for the university category.
The Shanghai Student Dragon Culture All-Round Competition stands as one of the largest traditional cultural sporting events for young people in East China. Since its inception in 2013, it has evolved into a comprehensive cultural and educational platform integrating three major traditional disciplines: dragon boat racing, kite flying, and dragon and lion dancing. By 2025, the event will have been held twelve times, cumulatively attracting nearly 50,000 students from over 1,800 schools across all 16 districts of Shanghai.
The East China University of Science and Technology dragon boat team took to the water with spirited determination. Their tenacious efforts on the lake have become the most vivid testament to the university's enduring dragon boat heritage.
